Five underrated Bad-Ass Bad Dads

Sure, all these guys had issues but that doesn't mean when it comes to parenting they don't have some good points. So, to celebrate Fathers Day and our  free Father's Day Bad-Ass Book giveaway a look at some of our favorite Bad-Ass Bad Dads, including some inspirational parenting quotes from each of them. I'm sure some of you will look at this list and say, no these guys are all just awful but, as usual, you're wrong. Walter White - Breaking Bad "I am the one who Knocks." Con -  Murder happy drug dealer. Meth, even if it is blue, is awful for human beings. Pro - He was really good at this job (murdering Meth cook) and made it to the top of his profession. Getting to the top of any profession is difficult making him an excellent role model. Sure his claims of selflessness were bullshit ("I did it for me") but he did leave them a shit ton of money and that one time he bought Flynn (Walt Junior) a totally bitching muscle car. As cool as your...

A message from the Dark Lord Satan ( or the Dark Lord Stan we're not sure)

Image
I Want You - to buy me a beer Yes Brothers and Sisters, what you've heard is true. The Dark Lord Satan (to be fair it could have been the Dark Lord Stan, either way, it's only one letter different) came to me. It was sort of like when the other guy (God or some shit like that) came to televangelist Jessie Duplantis and told him he needed his followers to give him money so he could get a private jet or when God told Oral Roberts* he needed to come up with 8 million dollars* or God would kill him. "I'll be Back." Satan (or Stan) isn't near as demanding. He just wants us to cover the bar tab we ran up while drinking with him a couple of weeks ago* or he is going to send us 'home'*.  He was also clear we shouldn't go begging like junkies or selling some bullshit holy water for it. If we even brought up some nonsense like 'prosperity gospel' he would kick our ass.* So, to satisfy the dark lord's demands we have to sell book...

Happy Mothers Day

What do Mom's love more than pulp fiction that skips the boring parts? Probably a lot of things, but hey that doesn't mean she doesn't want to take a stroll through Hell with The Walking Funeral .  She can do it this weekend for FREE. What if my mom is more a Captain Cooker type of woman? you might ask. We've got her covered too.  Captain Cooker  is free all weekend as well. But wait, you might say. After reading these for free she's going to want to read  Bad Ass Bitch Extraordinaire  and  Best Laid Plans of Idiots and Fuck-Ups  too, Well, you cheap fuck, they're both a dollar all weekend too. But what about paperbacks? You might ask, Mom ain't down with the whole digital thing. Well, our dead trees and dye books are always $6.66. And yes, that includes this  one . Sure this is for mom, but if you want to grab some of this for yourself we won't tell.

5 cools things - No Guys Allowed Edition

With the podcast doing a serialized version of Bodie Myer’s Bad Ass Bitch Extraordinaire and International Women's day we’re taking a look at five of our favorite bad ass women in fiction in our sporadic 5 cool things column. Selena - Yeah we’ve brought her up before*, and will continue to do so. Selena is the crazy ex-girlfriend we know we need to avoid but can’t help going back to. Greg Barth’s Selena series moves fast, hits hard, and is impossible to put down. Through five books the former stripper battled her way through the underworld  kicking ass and taking names like no other all because she stole the wrong CD while turning a trick. Loyal to her friends, ruthless to her enemies, and prone to really bad decisions she’s about as flawed protagonist as there is, but it is impossible not to have her back as she battles the mob, corrupt cops, various evil backwoods rednecks, outlaw bikers, and her own bad habits. Lara Croft - Are video games fiction? Well, they sure ...

Season 3 of the Podcast is Finally Here

Image
Damn, it has taken long enough,  but season 3 of the  10th Rule Books old School Radio Serial Podcast  is here. Will it be worth the wait? Hell fucking yes. This season we've added some Flash Fiction to the mix featuring some of our favorite writers, including Beau Johnson, Christopher Davis, Aidan Thorn, Paul Brazil, Bill Baber, Todd Morr and more. For episode 1 we have Beau Johnson's tale of revenge Front Then Center. For the old school radio serial part of the podcast we've got  Bad Ass Bitch Extraordinaire - Hell Book 2 For those wondering about Hell Book - 1  you can read it to catch up or not, as  B.A,B,E  works just fine as a standalone story. So go get yourself 20 minutes of free pulp fiction that skips the boring parts and tell a friend to do the same.

Yep, You're still wrong - These are the best books of 2017

It’s that time when reputable people put out their best of the year lists, so since we are one of those two things here are best five books we read last year which were also released last year. Since we are a small independent publisher cranking out pulp fiction that skips the boring parts we have selected our five from other independents, so no matter how good the last Jack Reacher novel may have been it won’t make the list*. Also while we like to think our stuff is totally bad ass we did not select any of our own books or authors because that just seems like a dick move*. Everglade (Selena Book 5) - Greg Barth - We’ve mentioned the Selena series here before and will probably mention it again. Maybe the most bad ass female character in pulp fiction. Ever. In fact, if we were giving out awards for that (we’re not) she would win. With the first four books of this series being uniformly awesome this could have been a letdown but it kicks just as much ass as its predecess...

No, You're Wrong These are the best five (well six) Holiday Movies

It’s Christmas time and that means Holiday movies*. We at 10th Rule Books love Holiday movies. So to celebrate the season and having Bad Ass Bitch Extraordinaire come out in paperback (just in time for Christmas) we are busting out our five cool things column about our favorite Holiday movies. Except since it is Christmas and all our paperbacks are currently $6.66 (like this one or this one , or this one and this one too) we are giving you six cool things. Enjoy. 1 - Bad Santa - “I beat the shit out of some kids today. But it was for a purpose. It made me feel good about myself…” The closest thing we’ve got to Richard Stark Presents a Very Parker Christmas.  Sure, Willie (Billy Bob Thornton) and his altitude challenged partner in crime (Tony Cox) are the guys Parker would have to kill when they screwed up the job if this was a Parker story and he wouldn’t get all sappy about a really dumb kid (Brett Kelly) and a woman with a Santa fetish (Lauren Graham), but...
